With these additional tools we will be able to introduce the joy in growing a garden, the different stages of plant growth, cultivation and patience. We will be documenting each stage of growth and researching along the way. A classroom greenhouse will provide an area for our projects to stay fresh and exciting in our minds. An art portfolio will provide a place for our growth posters and our charts that we will make about our plants. To protect our classroom carpet from water and soil we need a waterproof/rubber backed floor mat. Pots and seeds are needed to provide each student an opportunity to get their hands in the dirt. The root viewer would give an amazing learning opportunity about what is happening below the surface before we can even see growth. Rulers and dry erase markers will be used to document growth and observations on our growth posters and charts. A timer and plant light will allow better growth in our classroom. Our classroom has one window that faces a small courtyard within the school. With the timer, our plants will receive light every day.
We have a high desire to learn and the students are thriving with the few hands on experiences that I can currently provide. My hope is to be able to provide them more opportunities first hand, specifically with sciences and math. I have a degree in science with multiple focuses including horticulture, animal science, entomology and wildlife sciences. These tools will help me in sharing my knowledge with this youngest generation.
Thank you for taking the time to read our class request, we appreciate you!
