What is so cool about this project is that you can show students how germs spread without using real germs.
How cool would it be to see "germs" under a black light?
It's science at its best. You sprinkle some powder on an object (acting as if it were you coughing or sneezing) and pass it around. Then you place the student's hands under the black light to see how it spreads. You then have them wash their hands, and then look again, so they can see if they used effective hand washing. So fun!
This is a great visual for kindergarteners but super awesome for our 5th graders.
This will teach students about the spread of germs, teach them good hand washing techniques, and incorporate science, all at the same time! How Cool!!!
