Every student deserves to have opportunities to learn about the world around them. My students come from homes where finances are limited and therefore, they often are limited in resources and opportunities to grow as students. Most often they struggle in reading because they are not exposed to tier 2 vocabulary.
They need repeated exposure to a variety of academic vocabulary. Their vocabulary is often limited because of environmental and social factors. TIME For Kids Magazine and Story Works, Jr. will provide them with many opportunities to read both fiction and nonfiction text. These magazines will also help students build better vocabulary and work on comprehension skills.
