My project is designed to help my disconnected students to find peer support through time spent playing games and learning mathematics at the same time.
Covid isolated them and stole much of the necessary support from friendships and peer connections, thus the need to rebuild those essential friendships. These interactive experiences directly relate to my Nevada standard 1,12,3, "Apply properties and theories of the real number system to everyday situations." Students will build a connected community of peers as they play games and share highly interactive experiences. I will integrate the games into appropriate moments in the curriculum to make it meaningful. I also have a mentor period that I work with about 20 students, I will use these materials to build a strong community there as well.
