My class is hoping to procure some flexible seating options. Flexible seating helps students learn by allowing them to chose a seating option that is most productive for them. Student choice motivates student learning, and flexible seating is one way we can accomplish that goal. The less a student is worried about being uncomfortable in their seat, the more energy they have to focus on learning.
All of the options we have chosen will help students learn in the best, most comfortable seat for them as an individual. When students' individual learning preferences are taken into consideration, it can help them reach their full potential. The wobble stools, lap desks, regular stools, and table with bench options will greatly increase the level of student choice in our classroom. The flexible seating options the class has chosen will help with concentration, focus, ownership of learning, and self-regulation of wiggly behaviors. These seating options will be used all day in our Reading and Writing classroom, so they will benefit 35 students.
The 3rd Graders have requested flexible seating options to help them be the best learners possible. Flexible seating has been beneficial for these students in other classrooms, and we would love to bring these results to our classroom!
