The flexible seating options that I am requesting for my students is all about creating an environment where comfort and engagement are easily achieved to encourage learning. Student motivation and engagement are my goals and to achieve them, my classroom needs to reflect that environment. Each item has a great purpose to help benefit my students. The Sweet Home area rug, will be placed in the classroom library area for students to be a meeting area for the class, small groups, or in pairs. It will be an area where students can comfortably read during our independent reading time as we accomplish our Bucket List reading goals. The balance ball desk chairs are for my students that need movement to be able to focus. The motion of bouncing on the chairs will help many of my students be able to remain engaged and focused throughout the day. The convert-a-bench will be a great seating option for my students to feel comfortable and be able to work with small groups, all the while having two seating options. Finally, I am requesting a table set that can allow students to stand or sit, all while still being able to work and focus. The donations of this project will help improve my students’ focus and engagement by creating a learning environment that allows for flexibility, comfortability, and choice. By implementing flexible seating, my students will begin to have an environment that is growing and changing like the world around them, while encouraging cooperative learning and building a positive community. We will use these flexible seating options to encourage focus and enhance learning. By implementing flexible seating, my students will also have access to seating options that are conducive to group and pair collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking.
