If funded, I would like to have Chromebooks that remain in the classroom so that students can use them to enhance learning. Some of our activities require internet access for sites such as Google Earth, Discovery Education, and for virtual labs. Waiting for the availability of the school laptop carts can sometimes hinder the effective execution of a lesson. Some students do not complete assignments due to home situations and I would like to ensure all of my students have the same opportunities.
We already utilize platforms such as Edmodo, Canvas, Discovery Education and Google for announcements, assignments, and homework.
For now, my goal is to use the Chromebooks to allow students to access supplemental material for a deeper understanding of the concepts taught in class as well as to be able to complete assignments. Some students don't have access to the internet and this will assist them in getting their work done. This will also allow all students to be engaged in learning.
Eventually, I would like to have a paper-free classroom where all students will have a laptop or Chromebooks to use in class for assignments and activities. Technology is a big part of the learning process today, and I believe in using it to the fullest in the classroom.
