I have 70 9th and 10th grade students in our business pathway. There are about 70% Hispanic, 20% African American, and 10% other. It is a small 6-12 public school in a California neighborhood where crime is rampant. They have to deal with shootings, drugs, violence, etc. every day. Each year the school gets less money and is expected to do more. Please help us out and donate to our classroom:)!
I am very impressed with my students because despite the conditions in which they live they arrive at school every day with a willingness to learn and grow. They learn communication, self-management, problem solving, collaboration, grit, and innovation through our business courses. They compete in several high-stakes presentations each year and become great public speakers through the process. We are a great school with wonderful students; we just need help due to our restricted budget from the district.
