My students love all aspects of musical performance from instrumental music to dance to singing. It adds to their development as musicians and well-rounded individuals. Ensemble work encourages them to read music, listen for accuracy and create a sense of working together.
The Alto Xylophone, Alto Glockenspiel and Orff mallets will enhance the creativity in my students and their ability to apply their music skills in concrete ways. Hands-on experience is critical to making connections to music concepts. Playing percussion and barred instruments improves music reading skills, as well as their motor skills and eye-hand coordination.
The Alto Xylophone and Alto Glockenspiel will be a great addition to my unit on the Science of Sound. Having their own set of mallets will help my students maintain sanitary conditions in my classroom and contribute to a sense of safety. Sadly, due to the pandemic, hands-on experiences with instruments have been limited due to remote learning and lack of public and school performances.
