If you were to step into my classroom, you would see students that proudly claim their unique identities. San Leandro High, a school of almost 3,000 students, strongly values diversity of thought, leadership-styles, socio-economics, religions, first languages, and ethnicities. The students truly embody a open-minded, growth mindset. They speak confidently, work passionately, and relate everything to the real world. I proudly work with students who critically articulate worldly issues and are curious about how privilege operates in society. Our school and classroom is social justice-driven. My 9th graders as well as my 10th and 11th graders surprise me with their high level of engagement and interest in being challenged with real world issues to solve. The curriculum I create mirrors my students' passions and interests ALWAYS. It's my #1 goal.
