Students will be studying memoirs before writing their own 6-word memoir and short chapter memoirs. They will be granted with options for reading a memoir first. As they read, they will complete dialectical journals and have discussions through literature circles with classmates-- both with people who are reading their same book and others who are not.
This will serve as a jumping off point for the students in their senior year to explore who they are and their identities going forward. Once they read someone else's memoir, they will then be able to write about a moment in their lives that changed them.
