The days of "chalk and talk" in the math classroom are gone! I try to create and execute meaningful, creative, fun and differentiated student-based activities in the classroom. This school year, my colleagues and I are implementing guided math station activities in our math classrooms. Many of these activities incorporate the use of manipulatives and technology.
Due to huge budget cuts, the lack of a state budget in Connecticut, and the current state of public education in the US, Middletown is unable to purchase many of the resources and supplies that are needed to effectively implement the Technology Station for guided math in the classroom.
Currently, the 7th grade math teachers share a set of Chromebooks. These headphones and wireless mice would make it easier for students to utilize the many interactive and educational math websites on the Chromebooks. Too often, students forget their headphones and are unable to listen to videos on KhanAcademy. Additionally, many students (and teachers, for that matter) struggle with using the Chromebook鈥檚 built-in touchpad; this is why wireless mice would be extremely helpful. The other 7th grade math teachers and I will share the headphones and wireless mice. Please help me in achieving this goal for my current and future students.
