Learning and schooling is so different today than it ever has been. Students in my classroom need stimulation, both physically and mentally. The world they live in is full of movement and action, most kids by the age of two know how to use some sort of electronic device. So, how can I ask them to sit still and focus when that is not necessarily their reality?
The Wobble chair has become my answer to the wiggles, jiggles and movement of a 6-7 year old learner. My students' focus, creativity, involvement, and self-control has improved tremendously when they are allowed this type of movement. Their energy is directed into the work they are trying to complete instead of to contain.
