Our classroom is barren and lacks color, along with many necessities to make our room a comfortable and enjoyable place to be. My class should be a home away from home, a place where students feel comfortable and safe. Where they can take risks without fear and grow both intellectually and individually as a person.
By donating, you will not only increase student enjoyment for school, you will increase students' academic success this year. Having a comfortable area for students to listen and engage will improve students' attentiveness and alertness, this will happen with the puzzle floor mat to use as a rug where students can come down and be comfortable; also with the chart paper to enhance learning. This will also be aided with the bean bag chairs and other teacher chair. Having a space students can work towards and take ownership of will improve student attitudes and give them personal goals as well. Students will be able to work towards and use the bean bags and teacher chair to read in during our independent reading time. This will help motivate them towards success!
Students also require the necessities to learn, such as a sharpened pencil. At the moment my students do not have a sharpener of their own to use when they require a sharp pencil. This is why included in our list we have an electric sharpener and a wall mount sharpener. Students require the independence to do things on their own to grow individually. Students require dry erase markers for their centers and white boards. Also, in order to keep centers and other papers in order hanging files are best for the crates. This also allows students independence to get what they need. Simple classroom luxuries that are conducive to learning are absent in our classroom.
