My students are the most wonderful and cutest kids you'll meet. They make you laugh, they make you want to come to work everyday and they make you fall in love with them. However, they have a number of challenges when it comes to learning because they have multiple disabilities. The disabilities include: visual impairments, deafness, mental retardation, restricted mobility, various motoric impairments and some are even medically fragile. A number of students have a combination of disabilities. Adapting materials to differentiate instruction and enable participation from EVERY student is our goal. Our student's Individualized Education Plans include goals that require adaptations. Our program only includes students with special needs. To elicit responses from our students can require patience and creative lesson planning, but it's all worthwhile when you see them engaging in an activity. They light up, becoming excited and communicative.
