I started teaching 3rd grade 2 years ago. For ten years prior to that shift, I served students with special needs in upper elementary (3rd - 5th).
I believe in reaching my learners through hands on experiences that engage and enhance my students' learning experiences.
I also believe that by creating a cooperative learning environment, students make gains in confidence, social skills, and academics.
I also like to differentiate through small group lessons and centers that allow students to have concepts reinforced or enriched (depending on the student).
I enjoy watching them engage in high level thinking skills when given frequent opportunities to engage and discover with one another.
It is important to me that students realize that their strengths can be used to help one another. After all, isn't that what we are supposed to do?
