Every day we spend a large block of time learning in our centers. The materials I have requested will all be utilized during this time to help my students grow academically, socially and emotionally. It's important to have a variety of activities during center time. Magna-Tiles allow students to explore, be curious, and find new ways to create! Using LEGOs and play dough is the perfect opportunity to build fine motor skills and develop creativity! Sensory noodles and water marbles would be a great addition to our sensory bins in our science center!
We are also working on our writing in our classroom and the alphabet stampers will be a great addition to our play dough area! This year, we are doing something called graphics practice in our class. Graphics Practice is the Tools of the Mind handwriting program in which children develop the fine motor coordination required for drawing and penmanship. Children learn the strokes and shapes, correct grasp and pressure as they direct their hand鈥檚 motor movements to music. Self-regulation is built into graphics practice as the children stop and start fine motor movement along with the music. We are already running low on the markers we started off with and would love more as this is a favorite part of the day for several students!
Thank you in advance for your generosity and for giving my students another reason to love coming to school!
