In my classroom, I engage my students by asking poll-type questions to keep questions short and sweet. My technology is the TI-Nspires and they use the ti-Navigator program. My calculators are aging and I need replacement parts to keep up with the extra needs my students have this year. The parts I am replacing are the calculator wifi hubs. They sit on the calculator and I am able to send questions, worksheets, and quizzes through the calculator. This frees up paper for manipulatives and other needs that arise.
I also use the calculator for student input and surveys to keep the students' answers private. This helps build student confidence where they take chances and make mistakes (What math is all about). They reflect on their answers and self-correct (instant metacognition). The questions happen within seconds so time isn't wasted. More questions in less time.
