With multiple students requiring accommodations to access reading and listening curriculum, I'm requesting 3 Amazon Fire HD Tablets, headphones, and a splitter so that I can set up individual and group reading and listening stations. At these stations, students will be able to listen to stories or practice listening to audio conversations to boost their listening and attending skills.
In my classroom, we read and listen daily in order to develop academic readiness and cooperative learning strategies.
The addition of this technology would give my students a much-needed boost of practice in the areas of listening and reading. The ability to access the books electronically will allow students with special needs to participate in the reading centers. Students who are confident in their listening and speaking abilities will be ready to face the challenges of the general education setting, which is the ultimate goal for many of these kiddos.
