Each week children either read independently, read to a partner, or read with the teacher. Currently children are spread out around the room, but many sit on the cold tile floor, which is ok in the warmer fall months, but will soon prove to be uncomfortable when the cold winter season begins.
A border rug will give our classroom library a cozy and warm place for students to sit or stretch out. The rug will make the library more inviting and homey and allow students to dig deeper into their stories. More time spent reading equals more learning, more exploration, and growth.
