Having a variety of sports equipment to choose from will keep my students motivated and interested in exercising during PE class.
I listed mostly sports balls of different types for my Donorschoose project because sports equipment does not last very long due to wear and tear. We find ourselves without these basic essentials at times. At times the balls we have for students have small holes in them. We inflate them and students play with them while they slowly become deflated again forcing us to continuously inflate them several times through out the day. Being fortunate enough to receive more sports equipment will ensure that my students will have the basics they need to take part in a wide range of team sports games which will enhance their fitness and sportsmanship. These skills will hopefully translate into the classroom to make them better students.
I listed several footballs, basketballs, soccer balls, and volley balls in my wish list. At my school students love playing these team sports. It teaches them the importance of working as a team and it brings students from different backgrounds, ethnic groups, and circle of friends together.
I also included a variety of agility drills equipment such as the hurdles, ladder, cones, and hoops to my wish list. These items are meant to help students develop the foot work, maneuvering, and agility required to improve their ability to play the team sports previously mentioned. Having this agility equipment will not only make students better athletes but it will help improve their self esteem as they become better at what they do.
The megaphone also plays a key part in providing students with a safe and organized PE learning environment. PE classes are often large in size (50+ students) and students are spread out over large areas.
