When it's all said and done, I want my students to make the choice to be physically fit for life.
My students absolutely love physical education and everything that comes with being healthy for life. Every year, I try to find a way to make P.E. more meaningful to my students. I focus on skills rather than roll the balls out and play random games. I've noticed that my students have good mechanics. I am trying to show them how increasing your muscular strength and muscular endurance will help enhance your performance during activities that we do in class. I have a few students that can throw really far and hold themselves up for a long time in the plank position.
The materials I am asking for, weighted bars at various weights will help my students develop strength in their muscles to move faster when performing our skill-based lessons. It will help develop muscular endurance so they don't tire so quickly. Fitness is an important aspect of keeping a healthy body and my students get it. I will be able to show them the difference between muscular strength and muscular endurance. When I teach my fitness unit, I normally have stations set up and have the students either do one cycle of the stations and rest or every station is timed and then they rotate. I would love to make it more challenging for my students.
