I am a first grade dual teacher at Hobby Elementary in Houston, Texas. I teach Spanish Language Arts and Math. While my teaching partner teaches all in English I only teach in Spanish. Everything in my classroom is written in red and is in Spanish. I have a total of 47 scholars and are all seen on a daily basis. Only half of my scholars can speak Spanish and the rest English. All of my scholars have a language buddy to help them understand what is going on. Teaching in a dual setting requires a lot of patience, organization, and time management. There is a strict schedule and it must be followed in order for routines to stay afloat. My job requires getting my scholars hands on experience to help build foundational skills and exposing them to higher order thinking. My students come from low income areas, and many times I use my own money to get the things they need to excel in my class. Teaching is my passion!
