Restrictions stemming from the pandemic have made it challenging to develop relationships with students, promote empathy, and have decreased the availability of hands-on learning opportunities. Turning an ill-used section of campus into an outdoor classroom will allow for more varied educational experiences while still adhering to local, state, and federal guidelines. Being able to see students' faces and see each other's faces will help students with social-emotional education and help students continue to develop empathy as they interact with others. When the pandemic ends, this space will still be helpful to study outside and provides a safer place with more ventilation to conduct science experiments and study.
