This school year I have integrated Mindful Meditation as a cool-down from student's lesson activity in Physical Education. Each class ends with an opportunity for students to be able to calm the body and quiet the mind by practicing staying present in the current moment. Incorporating Yoga in my curriculum has assisted in increasing students focus of the present, and has increased their flexibility and muscular endurance. I would love a class set of Yoga mats to add to my student's Yoga experience. I think having these mats will establish a designated place for students to practice. Meaning, students will now have a visible area that is their own space versus sitting or laying on the floor of the gym or outdoor field. I also think these mats will allow students to deepen their level of mindful meditation as they will be able to relax more using a surface other than the ground or floor. In conclusion, using the mats to practice yoga outdoors, in a classroom, at our local park or on our school field can wholly expand on their mindful meditation experience.
