Research has shown that people (not just students) learn better and work harder when comfortable. When I am doing school work at home, I want to be comfortable. I usually am not sitting on a hard chair to do so. Students are no different. All the items will provide students with that extra bit of comfort, especially the dining room chairs, lounge chairs and yoga puff balls.
With these seating options, my students will have many different choices to make them the most comfortable on a daily basis. They will work harder and become more successful in my classroom. The computer desk chairs are always a big hit to Middle Schoolers. I used to use my desk chair as an incentive in class and the students loved it!
Some of these seats also offer movement and can be easily moved around the room. This will help students who need to be active to learn and make it easier to collaborate with their peers. The movement also is not disruptive to others! The work out ball chairs and computer desk chairs will provide this opportunity to students.
Some students may prefer to work in higher seating chairs like the bar stools and table. With these additions to my classroom, students will be able to choose from many different types of seats and pick the one that works best for them. In doing so, they will also learn about their style of learning and where they work best.
