My 25 amazing kinder kiddos attend a Title 1 public school in a small town and come from a wide range of literacy experiences prior to starting kindergarten. An increasing number each year are English learners, having just moved to America. The children LOVE the listening center but can't understand why I am reluctant to bring it out everyday. That's the thing...I have to "bring it out". It's cumbersome to be sure and, for a group of extremely independent learners, they are often frustrated and helpless when it comes to this dinosaur of a learning station.
