Last year, we took the plunge full force into the world of learning spaces and flexible classrooms. We saw a huge improvement in student accountability and ownership throughout the year. As the students embraced this attitude, LOTS of movement became vital in understanding how students learn instead of the traditional "sit-down" method.
With learning spaces and flexible seating in full swing, we need durable binders to help with the organization of materials and more flexible whiteboards to communicate our ideas in order to match this exciting movement. Since individual whiteboards are an important part to our math curriculum, we need more of a versatile whiteboard to accommodate the students' individual learning space. In the traditional classroom setup, we relied on sheet protectors with cardstock in it to act as an individual whiteboard. However, these materials do not hold up to the constant movement and heavy use in a flexible classroom. These whiteboard clipboards will provide that type of durability as well versatility for other uses such as acting as writing space in lieu of a traditional desk.
Another integral part of a learning spaces type of classroom is organization that is student friendly and can be used with multiple classes. Students are expected to not only take responsibility for their individual learning but their class materials. Durable clear view binders would greatly help the students manage their own materials as they move throughout the room. These binders would cut time on passing out materials since all daily resources will be located in those binders.
