This year I am looking to try something new, an idea called flexible seating. Flexible seating, balance balls, stack stools, and chair bands, uses a variety of seats to help students increase their focus, give them an active outlet to help them let out energy without disturbing the classroom, help motivate them to want to come to school, and assist students with special needs or different learning styles. The students will have the ability to choose each day what's eating will work best for them. And this way they are becoming problem solvers and learning to adapt and identify what they need to help them grow as learners. Students will sit on these chairs everyday. The kick bands will provide students a fidget while sitting. The bounce chairs will allow students to release energy while rolling and bouncing but allow them to stay in their space and remained focused. Students can opt to use the stools to sit, or push them under their desks when they need to stand. All of these options allow students to release energy so they can focus during class.
