These books will definitely improve the lives of my students in school because it will provide them access to books that they can independently read. When a child is reading books that are not appropriate for their reading levels, disinterest and frustration grows, which in turn leads to a hatred for reading. By providing books that my students can access in my classroom, I can develop their intrinsic love for reading, and also develop their skills in reading comprehension. To aid my students in this effort, they need to have more opportunities to read, and appropriate books that are both at their level and of high interest. Currently, my students have been using adapted texts provided through a reading curriculum, but they have little access to books that would help them grow as readers. At the high school level, our library doesn't have many books at their reading levels. Most of my students are reading in ranges of 1st grade to 6th grade levels, which are far below their peers. In order to make gains, my students need practice reading. Without high interest reading materials, and reading materials at their level, it makes it difficult for them to succeed. These books would help me build a diverse library for them to reach their goals and fill the shelves of our classroom library!
