Students will use simple voice recorders to practice reading with fluency and feeling. They will be able to play back their own voice and improve their grammar, rate of speech and pronunciation.
Practicing presentations with a voice recorder will help students to feel more confident getting up and presenting in front of the whole class.Students will be able to interview classmates or members of the community as they learn about Hispanic culture, science, and social studies topics throughout the year. Recording interviews will help them to review and transcribe exactly what was said.
Many students at other schools have access to voice apps already on their smart phones, but my students are 10-year-old kids at a Title 1 elementary school. Hardly any of them have a cell phone.
