My students will begin to explore the world of nonfiction with this research based unit on the study of animals. Not only will my students be researching and learning about a variety of animals, they will also continue to love learning. The students will form groups and together will research a certain animal. They will organize and synthesize all of their new knowledge.
Students will need to work together and collaborate as a team.
All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I have watched my students to see what animals interest them the most and I have also asked them what animals they would like to learn more about.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read at their own level. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
