I teach in an urban district in Connecticut. My fourth grade classroom is made up of many active and motivated learners from all backgrounds. As of 2017, our school is Title One. This allows us to receive funding from the state in hopes to close the achievement gap between low-income and other students. A majority of the students in my classroom receive free/reduced school breakfast and lunch.
As an educator, it is my goal to create the most interactive, memorable and safe learning experience for students while driving my students to academic and social success. I, myself, am a very hands-on learner. I enjoy bright colors and visuals of all types. In my classroom, I create a learning environment that is inviting to all types of learners. I allow my students to choose their work area around the room in order to complete the task at hand. Students love this freedom and choice.
