My students are fortunate enough to have access to Chromebooks twice a week. We also have a new language arts curriculum with a great online component which includes educational games, songs, and digital books. With this program, I can individualize assignments and tasks to meet the level of each student.
Unfortunately, in order for the children to use the program effectively, they need their own personalized headphones. I tried buying inexpensive earbuds for each child with my own money but they got tangled and broken easily and do not fit properly in their small ears. I asked the parents to send in headphones or earbuds for their students to keep at school. And while a few parents were able to do that, the majority of my families do not have the funds.
I feel that if I had a class set of high-quality children sized headphones, all of my students would be able to benefit from this exciting new program as well as enhance their digital literacy.
