Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education.
I have the pleasure and honor of serving English language learners in grades K-2 in my classroom at Mary G. Clarkson School.
When you enter the room, the walls are filled with colorful displays, charts and resources for students such as the Literacy Collaborative ABC chart, number line and question words. There is a world map indicating the countries where my students' families originate. There are name charts and photographs of each student. In the middle of the room facing the Smartboard lies a 5X7 rug for students to sit on during whole group instruction.
There is a rectangle table behind the rug with six seats. There is another bean shaped table perpendicular to that with four seats. My class size ranges from 8-12 students at a time.
The students participate in listening, reading, speaking and writing skills during instruction. When they exit the room, there are behavior charts with students' names.
