I am so excited to implement reading into my 4th grade classroom this year. Each day we will begin our lesson in our class reading nook. Students will come sit around the class rug to hear what the reading lesson will focus on each day. After their reading mini lesson they will cozy up with a good book in various places around the room. Many students will choose to sit around the rug during this time as they read their book and focus on the reading skill discussed in the mini lesson. At the conclusion of the independent reading time, students will gather back around the rug as I close the reading lesson with a read aloud. I will sit in my rocking chair as I read to the students on a daily basis.
