Our school does not off an art class! As education focuses on the core content areas and standardized testing, this project is designed to provide an enriching educational experience, representing a variety of cultures through multiple forms of art in after school setting. Let's get the kids thinking creatively and having fun with color!
We are asking for paint, sketch pads, pencils and other art supplies to ensure that all students will have a creative outlet to express themselves while gaining confidence and collaborating with their peers to captivate their audience.
Our after school art club will focus on fun and engaging techniques such as, monochromatic design, light, shadows and shading, Mixed Media, Watercolor Abstract painting and a culminating featured artists of color project.
Students will be introduced to artists that represent multiple cultures and time periods, allowing our kids to experience positive representation of themselves in a subject they are passionate about. Artists featured but not limited to: Elizabeth Catlett, Alma Woodsey Thomas, Augusta Savage, Yayoi Kusama, Frida Kahlo, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Calligraffiti.
Let's inspire so they can create!
