My middle school is a Title I school. These students, who struggle with economic and linguistic challenges, show me the definition of perseverance everyday. More than 75% of my students come from low income homes and many of them have dismal mindsets about math. They do not have access to technology and other materials that aid in making math more accessible and fun. To encourage perseverance and respect for math, my students need to have access to technology and manipulatives in the classroom.
