We are an at-risk preschool classroom serving 16 children. The children attend a full day program with two teachers. The Great Start Readiness Program is a state-funded preschool program for four-year-old children with factors which may place them at risk of educational failure. Qualifying risk factors for enrollment include low family income, environmental risks such as parental loss or absence, homelessness, parent with low educational attainment, disability or developmental delay, primary home language other than English, abuse/neglect of child or parent and severe or challenging behavior.
As you can see children come to us from a variety of backgrounds and home experiences. Our goal is to provide learning opportunities where children will be better prepared for the rigors of kindergarten academics. Everything we do in the classroom is very intentional. We have high expectations for all children.
