Flexible seating is a new and innovative choice given to students that allows them to work freely, move without restriction, and be comfortable in the classroom. This project is designed to meet the needs of each student. My classroom will become less teacher driven and more student driven. Students will be able to make their own choices to figure out what type of seating works best for them. Studies have shown that movement increases students' learning. Sitting in traditional chairs can cause fatigue, distractions and disengagement. These issues can be prevented by simply allowing students to move. This project will increase movement and engage learning. With the use of the balance balls, lap desks and bouncy bands, students will be able to choose how they sit in the classroom. With this mindset, students are accountable for their seating choices and will be able to see which seating choice helps with their learning.
