Our classroom needs a makeover! Our dream is to have a working environment that is conducive for all learners. For the past 9 weeks I witnessed my new pod of third graders struggle to get their work done. They are struggling with focusing and completing their work on time. The majority of them spend a lot of time trying to get themselves settled to work- always moving in the chair, standing, kneeling behind their chair, moving throughout the room. This in turns to higher stress levels on my students and myself.
Flexible seating will bring peace to my classroom environment and make my students feel successful throughout the day. Giving my students a choice with their seating in the classroom will deliver focused students, completed assignments, and low stress levels. The stools in the class will encourage my students to practice good posture at various times of the day and will keep them engage. The floor cushions will make working on the floor with various partnerships throughout the day inviting. A colorful cozy cushion is much more optimal than our old area rug that was donated by donors choose eight years ago. I'm so excited to bring our new United States carpet into our community. The colors pop and will bring new light and learning to our enviornment.
