In my busy classroom of six and seven year-olds, students struggle the most with focusing for long periods of times. In todays world of education, they are expected to listen and focus on instruction for extended periods of time. The requirements of first graders is now greater than it ever has been, with less opportunities for them to choose what they can do in the classroom. It is also important that they are able to focus while releasing energy in the classroom due to spending more time on academics instead of physical play. One way to help students focus for longer periods of time to achieving their highest level of potential while making choices in the classroom is through flexible seating such as bean bags, Hokki Stools, and exercise balls.
Flexible seating donations will help my students gain back their voice of choice in the classroom while releasing energy to help them better focus on their learning.
Research has proven that students who are able to move and make choices in the classroom are more successful and enjoy learning.
