Alternative seating options in the classroom will provide support to my students' learning while keeping their energy and bodies focused to not distract other learners.
My students are an amazing group of fourth grade learners! They are thoughtful, which is appreciated. However, our classroom currently has limited alternative seating options and the many students that are in need of alternative seats offer them to classmates, forgoing their own need for a non traditional classroom seat.
With more options for non traditional seats, more students will find what fits their learning needs to be successful! The materials that I am requesting for our classroom will provide students with options for floor seating, wiggle stools to use while at tables, pillows and bouncy bands to not distract other learners in the classroom while working.
Movement is great for the body and for the mind. With alternative seats, such as wiggle stools, students will be able to make that happen and progress academically.
