My students have had to experience a unique situation with a lot of substitutes being in and out of the classroom and a change in teachers mid-year. The room was much in much need of "some love." I am working to create a classroom that is as welcoming as the school as been to me. The items I have selected, such as window coverings would give some warmth to the room. Right now there are just white, old blinds (which do not keep all of the light off of the Smartboard) and little color. These are items that could be re-used for many years and serve a need in the classroom. I have selected a couple of rugs that could be placed on the solid white vinyl tile to give the students a warmer, more comfortable area/alternative seating. We currently only have one style of seating in the classroom, and I am working on providing more alternative seating for the students as funds allow. I have also selected a chair for my desk (the current one is red, stained, and falling apart.) The room did not have any inspirational signage displayed or calendars etc, and I feel these are needed in the classroom.
I am working to get myself and my students organized and provide them with the tools to they need to develop their organizational habits. I have selected a few organization items such as a paper tray (that would allow me to sort student work for both turning in and returning papers.) I have also selected a few items that we are in need of for storage of pencils, markers, and other classroom supplies.
My requests are all items that could benefit the students through their learning environment.
