Students with Autism have increased sensory needs. They can become more independent when that are taught how to use strategies that reduce their frustration, provide sensory input, and have instruction that is dynamic in nature.
The items I have selected will help the students in these areas. Students with Autism have difficulty in environments that typically developing peers find common place. The sound of an air conditioner, 20 students ruffling papers, or sitting without movement.
In an effort to help them cope with these environments it helps to provide them with items that reduce frustration. It is always a goal to build their independence in the process.
