Sitting in a plastic desk chair all day is hard for grown-ups, and it's even harder for young children. Luckily, there are better options available, and my students LOVE them! Wobble chairs and balance balls allow students to engage in controlled motion while they sit. Students build core strength, keep blood flowing, and engage their entire bodies.
After trying out flexible seating options with my students on the autism spectrum, I found that all of my students benefit from these amazing tools. Many children achieve their optimum engagement when they are able to move their bodies while they work. Wobbling, bouncing, and twisting help us stay alert, focused, and manage anxiety.
