The COVID-19 pandemic affects the lives and social-emotional experiences of every student to some extent. Research reveals widespread impacts on students’ social-emotional development and mental health. In order for students to achieve success in school, career, and life, they must be taught social and emotional skills. Students with good social-emotional skills have better academic performance and school behaviors, fewer behavior problems, better relationships with peers and family, and fewer mental health issues. Social-Emotional Learning also provides necessary skills for future workforce development. The Scholastic printable/digital magazine subscription, Choices, contains articles, classroom lessons, and activities that will promote students' personal, family, and community health. Every issue comes with a comprehensive Teacher's Guide and Support, including lesson plans, videos, slide shows, critical-thinking questions, printable online skills sheets, and quizzes. This supplemental material will be used during Career Exploration classes. Choices will meet the following SEL goals: 1. Promote responsible decision making 2. Cultivate empathy and tolerance 3. Prevent bullying 4. Motivate goal-setting with strategies 5. Foster healthy relationships 6. Teach self-management 7. Encourage communication among students 8. Boost self-awareness 9. Address digital citizenship 10. Support whole-child education
