During morning meetings, we will read a picture book. These picture books will have various themes and lessons for students to identify that will encourage students to have a growth mindset for learning.
These books will motivate my students to overcome obstacles that they may meet throughout the school year and throughout life.
By being exposed to these books during read alouds, third graders will meet characters who have faced adversity and persevered. Students will have the opportunity to make connections with these characters and learn from them. The books will encourage the love of reading as well as empathy towards others, resilience, persistence, flexibility in thinking, and optimism.
