The materials I am requesting for my classroom will contribute to our already functioning flexible seating classroom. They will allow me to get rid of certain pieces of furniture we currently use that take up a lot of space.
Little minds need space to grow, LITERALLY!
We currently use yoga balls, pillows, a low table, stools, and lap desks, all of which were purchased from my own pocket. Additionally, we already have one standing desk that our school purchased. The addition of another standing desk would allow this student to have a partnered desk at the same height. The standing desks are great for fidgety learners, students who have a tendency to doze off, and anyone who needs to get a little bit of extra energy out. The bar at the bottom of the desk is great for students to rock and stretch their legs on.
I am requesting two wheeled computer chairs, for use by students who have a difficult time sitting still when we are stationed at our desks. I am also asking for four blue plastic chairs to replace the stools that are at our strategy group table. The stools will then replace some of the chairs at our desks.
The goal is to eventually have enough flexible seating options to not only accommodate all our learners, but to eventually make our classroom a stationary desk free zone. Imagine the possibilities for little minds to grow with more open space and comfortable, Smart Spots.
