My Project
I am requesting an everyday rug and bean bag chairs for my students to be able to read independently. The rug we have now is old and stained, despite my best effort to keep it clean! My class is full of energetic, eager third graders who sometimes have a difficult time sitting still. This rug will provide these students an opportunity to read independently on the floor without disrupting their peers or dreading the idea of sitting still in a chair and quietly reading. In order to encourage reading and their love for it, I want to allow my students to read in a space that is comfortable for them, and a place where they have an option to choose.
I also asked for Math Manipulatives for my students to use in centers on the rug. I love to keep my students engaged in their learning and to have fun while doing so! Third grade is the beginning of Multiplication and Division so these extra tools will be a great asset! By having a rug, I am giving my students an opportunity to choose and become independent thinkers and leaders!
